This is D.T. reporting live from København. Officials report that Siberia has moved over here. According to CNN: "OH MY!!! This is really crazzyyyy!"...
I received a lovely letter today from our dearest ERASMUS coordinator:
"Dear Exchange students,
Hope you are all well and not too cold. This has been the coldest winter in ten years, so we are all longing for the spring to come soon."
Luckily she did not add: Save our souls!
Jesus, what am I doing here? This is an outragesously expensive country, with a seemingly uncurable Siberia complex, where snow tends to jump on the heads of the Hungarian pedestrians, PLUS: local newspapers tend to upset the arabic world twice a year. (You might know these cartoons were first published in september 2005, but they apologized than).
I guess I am kind of liberal in a lot of ways. I am not a rocket scientist, but I do see and understand that in a pretty big part of the world religion is not separated from the state, plus it is much more integrated in the everyday lives of people. So, I dont think it is wise to fuck with emotions we dont share, but could understand. Freedom of speech. Whatever.. does it entitle anyone to be rude, or to hurt the feelings of others? Should I say something just because I believe that I can do it? Was there any benefit of this whole thing?
On the other hand.. I do have objections about muslims lately.. sorry. Not only their methods of problem solving, but their intolerance, and uninteligent temper. Have you seen the signs they are wawing around? "Slay those who insult Islam" "Europe will pay for this"... HUH?!
I dont know.. it must be me... but even though I think I am a dedicated man for peace, tolerance and different nations living together.. but when I saw those guys I tend to agree with Matt Damons character in a new movie: "A 150 years ago you lived in tents, chopping each others heads off, and this is exactly where you are going to be in another 150." With this attitude.. I guess so. I say this now, even though I have been there, looked at their culture, and I have the deepest respect inside... this is really going out of hands...
